  " - "the word generation usually refers to people of various ages, who's lives overlap during a time period or event....the exact length of that time cannot be stated except that it does have an end and would not be excessively long....jesus did not leave his disciples a formula to determine when the last days would end....they would not know "the day nor the hour.".

  It's a repeating formula for disaster. They just keep suckering them in. Another "generation" wastes their lives in servitude.

  to everyone who is part of this forum.. i won't be on here for a while as i am seperating from my wife.

  i have found a place with a workmate.. thanks for your comments and support through difficult times.

  i am starting a new chapter in my life.. jw's have "destroyed" my life and seperated me from my friends and family.

  If you had a Time Machine would you stop yourself being a Witness???

  what if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!

  what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.

  I chose to become a witness before I was a legal adult. If I could have just delayed that decision for a few years, I don't believe I would ever have gotten involved.

  That doesn't make me bitter, as some may think. It is the course of wisdom to see where you have made bad decisions and choose to make better ones. So, yes, it was the wrong decision and I would change it in a nanosecond if it was in my power to do so.

  dear friends,.

  i would like to say thank you for the gratitude expressed for the scans i have been providing.. i had the time to do this while i was sitting at my computer during the hours, days and weeks that i cared for my very sick wife.

  at the moment, my partner of 46 years lies very ill in hospital, so you will understand that i currently do not have the time to scour the various threads and posts.

  The D.O. gave some 'good' advice regarding the internet at the Assembly

  gave us some really good advice at this weeks circuit assembly, he was talking about the dangers of the internet, he gave the usual warnings about teenagers meeting strangers or apostates, and dating websites.. but this time he also told the patents in the audience that there is software available which can monitor every website that is visited and everything that is typed on the computer, i was shocked, he was advising the parents to spy on their children, i suppose it might be ok if the child is 10yo but what if he or she is late teens, and they discover that their parents have spied on them, imagine how that will spilt the family, and for what?

  the cure is worst then the problem.. its simple a case of the wts being paranoid of the interent and they want no one on it..

  A lot would depend on the child's age as to monitering their use of the internet sites. Most of the encounters from the show Dateline:To Catch A Predator are set up through common teenage sites. You do want to protect your children.

  On the other hand, having raised teenagers, if they want to hide something from you, they can. I think your relationship with your children matters more than any "spying" you might do.

  By the way, how do you delete cookies? I know how to delete files and browsing history. I'm not a kid, but must protect myself from spying by well meaning family members.

  Elder asks me why we quit... (Long)

  in this thread i mentioned having a long chat with an elder last summer.

  i didn't realize i had never posted the story, so here it is.. last summer (when i went to buy my new camera lens) i ran into one of my favorite jws at the photography shop.

  he was buying a camera bag for his new dslr, and i saw him, went up and greeted him, hugged him.

  I don't think I would want to come up against you in an argument. You can certainly hold your own. On the point of integrity, I told an elder once that I couldn't, in good conscience, continue to support or teach a doctrine I did not believe in. He thought it would be alright, as it was a doctrine that didn't "come up much."

  To walk away because of integrity is a thought that leaves them bewildered.

  I noticed the second man in the first clip was from legal. He says "these clarifications (cough) , no truths...". which is it, a clarification or truths? Why would a truth need to be repeatedly clarified?

  He also uses the term "new light". How can these clarifications be new light if they return to a former light that was dumped as untrue.

  Pretty soon or already, the jws will be run by nothing but a bunch of lawyers. Did Jesus need lawyers to follow him around and reword his statements? I don't think so.

  for me it was bible reading, where you could express your own opinion, in line with present truth of course.. pre the change it was awful listening to some fool telling you his opinion of bible highlights.

  I used to attend a congo that would invite the children up on the platform, if they wanted to join in, and gave them some attention. It always was low key and touching to see them enjoy themselves. Nothing preprogrammed.

  I wouldn't want any children to learn the harsh ways of jws now, but this was the closest thing to Sunday school I ever saw them do. Of course, it would not be allowed anymore. Everything is scripted now, down to the prayer and song.

  ...standing in a holy place.. i am sure this must have been discussed before but i can't find it in a search.

  so if the disgusting thing is the un i think i can think of a time when it has stood in a place jw's consider "holy".

  i never bought that the "holy place" was christendom when it has supposedly been denounced by god already.

  I think the early Christians knew all too well that the Roman government was disgusting and a threat to them. It's when the jws try to create double fullfillments of prophecies that their reasoning or outright guessing becomes tortured thinking.
